Picture of a young vine

This page is dedicated to any events having to do with us directly or with our extended community.  We'd like to say we'll manage to list the good stuff going on around here (like the good powder days in the Judith Mountains) but it's likely we'll miss something so check out our blog or links if you are looking for something specific.

Our hope is to also include locations that distribute our wine, as soon as we start making it.  Chi va piano- all in good time.

Big Spring Food Co-op OPENS MARKET

May 23, 2009
The Big Spring Co-op has an opening date- at last, the construction and business are in order and ready to launch, and the store looks great.  the community is  ready, too, because one of the only other two groceries in town went out of business and now our only choice is the Albertson's monopoly.  Keep our money and our food local and natural!  That's what we want, so go and get some on Memorial day weekend.

Chokecherry Festival

September 9, 2008
With the Big Spring food co-op underway and fast approaching open doors, they'll be holding a booth this year at the Chokecherry festival showing off numerous personal care and edible products.  The choke cherry festival is the big event of the season- be there!

Big Spring Food Co-op Open House

March 29, 2008

Kate and I started a food co-op business plan on the back of an envelope driving home after an extended Christmas break.  The initial idea, for us anyway, spawned during meetings with Lewistown's Green Group (see Lewistown On-Line link- about which discuss seperately).  It wasn't long before the community became fired up over the idea.  With Kate at the reigns, and Sally Karinen, Susan/Richard Lohmuller, John/Andrea Payne, and a great network of friends, engines were firing.  In two months the idea has grown from a friend-encouraged buyer's club to a tangible concept that will supply the consumer with goods grown and made locally.  It turns out there's quite a lot of suppliers around here who are as equally fired up.  Montana grown grass-fed beef, organic onions, herbs...  all for an affordable rate because of the reduced transportation costs.  Root cellars help, too.

March 29 will find everyone getting together at the co-op (613 1st Avenue South, Lewistown) for an open house.  The co-op may not be fully functional by that time, but most things I know are still reaching that status well beyond 70 years' worth of trying, you know?
