So the frost last week surely nipped some of the vines’ tiny little ends. We’ve been removing little blue growing tubes from the vines moving through the vineyard from east to west. The Frontenac, on the east, had a full two weeks to prepare and harden for the frost while the Sabrevois on the far west, only three days. I guess we’ll have to wait for six months before we know the effects of such an early freeze. In total the freeze only lasted one night but had grapes been hanging they’d be finished. All of the leaves went from healthy fat and green to spindly and brown in 46 hours. Ouch. ‘Cest la vie…
